「技術・人文知識・国際業務」ビザの在留期間更新申請を行いました。

先日、熊本市内にあるTSMC関連のサプライヤー企業様（台湾企業の日本法人）よりご依頼をいただいた通訳・翻訳の方の「技術・人文知識・国際業務」ビザに関する在留期間更新申請を行いました。

最初の「在留資格認定書交付申請」とは審査のポイントが異なり、入国後の日本国内での在留活動実績が重視されます。

主なポイントとしては、下記のとおりです。

・雇用契約が現在も有効であるか

・実際の業務内容が在留資格の範囲（技術・人文知識・国際業務）に適合しているか

・給与水準や納税状況、社会保険加入等、日本国内において適切に就労、生活しているか

・認定申請時（あるいは前回更新申請時）の内容と大きな乖離がないか

更新申請の際には、申請人個人の課税証明書や納税証明書業務内容など、認定申請では求められなかった資料が必要となります。

また、企業側のご担当者様には、外国人社員の受け入れ体制やサポート体制の整備に加え、定期的な就業状況の確認や記録も重要な役割となります。

「前回問題なかったから大丈夫」と油断してしまうと、不許可や在留期間の短縮といったリスクにつながることがありますので、ご注意ください。

【Application for Extension of Period of Stay】

The other day, I submitted an application to extend the period of stay for an interpreter/translator working under the “Engineer/Specialist in Humanities/International Services” visa. This individual is employed by a Japanese subsidiary of a Taiwanese company that supplies TSMC in Kumamoto City.

My office has been continuously receiving consultations and requests regarding immigration status matters from several supplier companies in connection with TSMC’s expansion into Kumamoto. I will continue to provide meticulous support to ensure that foreign employees can work and live in Japan with peace of mind over the long term.

I handle visa procedures not only for engineers but also for administrative positions such as HR, general affairs, and accounting. In addition, I support applications for the “Dependent” visa for the families of employees.

Unlike the initial “Certificate of Eligibility” application, the extension application emphasizes the applicant’s actual activities in Japan after entry.

Key points in the screening process include the following:

- Whether the employment contract remains valid

- Whether the actual job duties fall within the scope of the visa category (Engineer/Specialist in Humanities/International Services)

- Whether the applicant is properly employed and living in Japan in terms of salary level, tax payment status, and social insurance enrollment

- Whether there are significant discrepancies from the information submitted in the Certificate of Eligibility application or previous extension application

Documents not required for the initial certificate application, such as the applicant’s tax and income certificates and detailed job descriptions, are often required for the extension application.

Furthermore, companies employing foreign nationals play a critical role in maintaining an appropriate support system and regularly confirming and documenting the employees’ work status.

Please note that assuming “it was fine last time, so it should be fine now” may lead to risks such as denial of the application or a shortened period of stay.
